Chatting from the forgotten country - DR. Congo
Me, witnessing an arrested teenager pushed by the police: “What did he do?”
Armand, after asking: “He cut of the hand of a mama with that machete.”
Me: “Cut of? The hand is of?”
Armand: “Yes it is. The mama is at hospital.”
Me: “Oh my God."
Armand: “Yes, cutting of a hand, it is not good.”
Dido: “How do people consider homosexuality in Sweden?”
Me: “A few people are still conservative and can’t accept it. Most people accept it though, more or less.”
Dido: “Is it normal?”
Me: ” It is not very common. But yes, absolutely it’s normal.“
Dido: “Two men walking together as a pair, it is not how nature made us. I would not allow myself seein something like that.”
Me: “In Kenya you can get death penalty for being homosexual.”
Dido: “Hm. Here there is no need for that. They would be killed anyway. Maybe TV would come and film first. Then people would throw stones. They would be killed.”
